Swedish illustrator/artist Michelle Eismann’s work combines vintage looks with modern splashes of colour and humour (which I definitely appreciate in art) Delicately drawn birds and foxes get dressed up in tea dresses – it’s all very charming.
Eismann straddles eras for inspiration; some look distinctly 1940s, others more sultry 50s pin up girls (albeit with machinery for bodies). Blotches of colour add some edge, and collaged-on newspaper scraps and talking mouths add comedy and light heartedness to her work. It’s no wonder she’s been commissioned by the likes of ACNE to do instore installations – certainly one to be keeping an eye on.
